Potentamis and Fasaion: An Observation of How Synthesis Operates at the Level of Interacting Elements

This paper takes up a question the Synthetic Principle leaves open. The Synthetic Principle records *what* a certain mechanism is — discrete elements integrate into a configuration whose properties are irreducible to the elements alone — but not *how* that mechanism proceeds when elements meet within a region of conditions. The present paper observes the how: when two or more elements interact, a configuration comes to exist as the outcome of the interaction, and what comes to stand establishes the order that holds thereafter. The configuration that stands is the outcome the interaction produces; it is not, by observation, simply one of the interacting elements left over — it may coincide with one, contain both, fuse them into a third thing, or eliminate one, varieties I record rather than reduce to a single case. I name the capacity from which the outcome is generated *Potentamis* and the resulting standing order *Fasaion*. Because what the paper observes is the operation of the very mechanism the Synthetic Principle names, it lies within the Synthetic Principle — the how within the what — rather than beside it. The paper records what I observe at scales available to me and reconstructs, from descriptions produced by others, the recurrence of the same structure at scales I cannot reach. It distinguishes two aspects of the standing order: the *fact* of which configuration stands, present whether or not any observer registers it, and the *naming* projected upon that fact, which is an act of an observer, not an ontic feature. It does not claim that what stands is good; description is not endorsement. It does not formalize the observation; quantification is deferred. It records a structure observed directly, named for transmission, and offered for comparison. **Keywords:** Potentamis, Fasaion, interaction, outcome, configuration that stands, synthesis, fact and naming, Meta-Philosophy
